First Grade School Supplies
Farmington Public Schools provides your child with all books, supplies and materials necessary for the successful completion of first grade. Parents and students are always free to voluntarily provide school supplies. If you wish to volunteer supplies, we suggest providing some or all of the following items with your child's name on each:
~GYM SHOES to keep at school (or be sure your child wears safe shoes to run and play in on gym days).
~BACKPACK - Standard sized backpacks work best. Folders don't fit in the small, cute ones and the hard-cornered backpacks with wheels and handles won't fit well in our lockers.
~SPIRAL NOTEBOOK to keep in desk (standard 8 1/2 x 11 inches with 70 pages of paper).
~SUPPLY BOX to keep in desk (5 x 8 inches). This will house your child's scissors, crayons, dry erase markers, glue sticks (and markers, if you choose to purchase them).
~SCISSORS to go inside the supply box.
~GLUE STICKS to go inside the supply box.
~Skinny DRY ERASE MARKERS 2 to 4 for personal, mini-whiteboards.
~CRAYONS (48 count or less) to go inside the supply box (go ahead and recycle the crayon box and dump the crayons into the supply box).
~Small box of skinny MARKERS These aren't used often, but many students like to have them for special projects.
~Small set of HEADPHONES to be used with computers.
~GREEN FOLDER that is poly/plastic with two pockets. This folder will be taken home at the end of each school day and brought back to class each school day.
~A Hard-cover, 1 inch binder with metal, snap-closing rings - This will be your child's Leadership Notebook.
A water bottle with a sports pull top or flip straw is recommended. Water bottles need to go home each afternoon to be washed and refilled.
Do not send all of the items below (just pick one or two). Here are some shared classroom supplies that we can always use:
