Your CHild's HOmework Checklist
- Every afternoon empty take-home folder and put papers where they go at home. Return folder to backpack and bring into class the next morning.
- Share behavior calendar with an adult. Discuss daily choices. Have it initialed on weekends.
- Read, be read to, or both for at least 10 to 20 minutes every day. Cut out one golden reading ticket for each 10 minutes that was read at home. Put in green folder to bring back to school. See photo below for examples.
- Do math “Homework” page and return to school the next school day. Children should get into the habit of working independently, skipping things that aren’t understood and then asking an adult for explanation. An adult should check homework for understanding and accuracy before it comes back to school. If the work was overall too challenging, please write a note on the paper for the teacher.
Very little work can be sent home when a child is absent because everything we do in class is based on an activity, not a handout. When your child is absent, you will need to watch weekly emails for concepts being taught. Lessons cannot be left for your child. If their are any papers that were missed, those will be left on your child's desk and should be completed and returned within a couple days.
