Hello! My name is Lisa Haskin. I love teaching and I am blessed to have been teaching at Longacre for 28 years. I have taught kindergarten and first grade and I truly believe that childhood should be a journey, not a race.
I value each and every child and what they bring to our classroom community. Building a sense of community in our classroom is as important as the academics of first grade. It is amazing to watch children who feel safe, accepted and able to make important choices and decisions for themselves grow and learn beyond their wildest dreams (and ours).
My husband Doug and I have been married for 28 years and we have an 18 year old son named Bradley who is off to MSU. (Time sure does go quickly; I remember when he was a first grader.) We live on 10 acres in South Lyon and love to spend time together outside whether we are walking, riding bikes, swimming, dirt biking, playing volleyball, sledding or having snowball fights. Our 12 year old Weimaraner, named Baron, loves being outside with us too.
Some of my other favorite things to do, in addition to teaching, are reading, praying, gardening, hanging out with friends, cooking simple, healthy foods and playing cards or other games. Below are some pictures that will help you get to know me better. Oh by the way, you will see below that our 75 pound dog loves to sit in my lap when I'm reading or checking papers. He forgets that he is not a lap dog.
